Artist's Comments

This high-precipitation supercell was bearing down on us in northern Colorado. We were standing ground just south of the storm, watching it churn through the atmosphere towards us. The cloud motion in this storm was incredible. You could literally watch the cold air being forced up into the shelf cloud and condensing.

I used Photoshop CS2.

Ain't that the truth. Of course, we had to drive a total of 3400 miles over six days to find storms like this, but it was definitely worth it.

Oh, absolutely. That was our tour director, Roger Hill. He's been chasing for over twenty years, and has seen over two hundred tornadoes. He knew what he was doing.

That being said, after this shot we promptly ran back to the van and got the hell out of there.

Gorgeous shot! I really do like HP storms. I don't know if you've ever seen an LP storm but they make beautiful shots as well.

Woohoo! Another severe weather enthusiast commented on my picture!

I have, indeed, chased an LP storm: [link] In fact, we chased that storm just before intercepting the one in this deviation. It was as LP as LP can get. We drove practically through that thing with no more than a light drizzle.
